Founded in 2007 by York University students, the York University Rover Team (YURT) placed 3rd in 2007-2008 and 1st in 2008-2009 in theMars Society's University Rover Challenge (URC). Our goal is to win first place at this year's competition in Utah and once again bring home the cup. YURT is an ever-changing team with new faces always joining and contributing to its success. The team spends the months from September to June researching, building, testing and finally competing against other universities with a rover that can achieve 4 primary objectives in the URC. In essence our mission it is to develop a stand-alone, Mars rover prototype that will be able to perform duties on a simulated Martian surface.
