The 2007-2008 York University Team

YURT was started by team captains Jesse Tebbs and Vincent Huynh who wanted to create a student run club that would participate in the rover challenge ultimately letting science and engineering students put the tools learned during lectures to practice!
The team literally starting from nothing was able to establish themselves and fundraise $15 000 to build their prototype mars rover.
Through sleepless nights, dedication and perseverance, the team was able to produce a rover with five-degrees of motion, capable of remote control maneuverability, six pan-tilt cameras all providing live feed to a remote station, and a spectrometer to assist with geological tasks.
The rover team, since their victorious return in June from taking home 3rd place in the competition, has gained recognition from the York community and been featured on various TV programs such as Discovery Channel, and Global News, and in the Toronto Star!
